Join Us - Monthly Work Day

The third Saturday morning of each month is set aside as an MPC Work Day. At 8:30 AM (following the Men's Breakfast that begins at 7 AM). Everyone, male and female, children and adults are needed to help out with repairs, painting, upkeep and general tidying up around the church. The Facilities Team organizes what needs to be done.

Come early or come late but, unless you come, nothing will get done. Amen? Amen!

Needs/Special Offerings

Twice each year we receive special denominational offerings.

On Palm Sunday we receive the One Great Hour of Sharing offering. This offering is divided up between the Hunger Program, The Self-developement of People Program and The Disaster Assistance Fund.

On the Sunday before Christmas, we receive the Christmas Joy Offering. Half of this offering goes to our denomination's racial/ethnic secondary schools & colleges and the other half goes to support the pensions of retired pastors and missionaries whose retirement income is otherwise insufficient.

We may also receive other special offerings as emergency needs arise unexpectedly during the year.

Moms Need Moms

Moms Need Moms (MNMs) is a wonderful mother’s group. If you have never attended a get-together, you should consider joining this unique fellowship group. There is a monthly ‘mom’s night out’ without children and a monthly ‘moms with kids’ outing. Your children do not have to be small/young; they can be in school of any grade. It is a great time for the ladies to fellowship and share some motherly support and bonding. Upon advanced request, childcare is always made available at the church.

Volunteers in the
Vineyard of The Lord

The Deacons
Need A
Meal Coordinator

Have you asked yourself how can I help MPC? Are you looking for a way to touch someone’s life? Would you like to help a MPC family/individual at a time when they need a hand? The Deacons might have your answer.

The Deacons are in need of someone to oversee coordinating meals for a family or individual who has had an emergency, birth, death, etc. making it difficult for them to prepare meals. The Deacons will let you know when there is a request for meals and also provide you with a contact list of volunteers willing to provide meals. Please call Margie Esteron at 623-9194 if you are interested in filling this important position or have questions.

Ushers Wanted

Thank You, Ushers!— Dorothy Dale, chief usher-chaser

Ushers are Very Important People. The person who hands you a church bulletin, with a smile, is the first to show we are a friendly church. Let’s smile back and appreciate them—after all, they got to church half an hour before the rest of us. That’s early!

I do thank all the people who so graciously consent, when I phone them, to serve as ushers. But it is be even nicer to have volunteers So here is a Big Extra MAHALO to the volunteers.

How do you volunteer? There is a sign-up sheet on a clipboard on the table just inside the Sunday School building door. Serving as an usher is a great way to meet people— a good job for newcomers! Don’t be shy— sign up!

Congregational Life, the healing ministry

A Note from Congregational Life
Elder Michelle Emerson

Did you know that Congregational Life (CL) used to be known as the Healing Ministry? As a current elder for CL, I am writing to ask for your continued support. It is admittedly a difficult time without a permanent pas-tor. However, God expects each of us to continue His church. You may not know that CL is re-sponsible for Christian fellowship—providing a safe place for our brothers and sisters in Christ to get much needed support and friendship and an opportunity to forge everlasting bonds and positive relationships.

Look around at all that we offer (as best we can with your support). We manage the weekly fellowship that follows service, send packages to our deployed men and women, prepare the monthly Presbyte, and ensure that you get your individual birthday and anniversary cards.

I could go on but I think you get the picture. We also do our best to offer social outings, sometimes family oriented, and other times for adults only. Whether we are going out to dinner, are off at a re-treat, or hiking up Diamond Head, we are enjoying each other’s company and growing in fellow-ship, just as the Lord intended.

We will continue to offer as many functions as we can. We need your help. As you may know, Cheryl Horton is looking for someone to take over the reigns as the Fellowship Host, and Noreen is relinquishing her duties as the Presbyte Editor.

Interested in helping out? The number one thing you can do is pray. The number two thing you can do is act. What help can you provide? I am also open to any suggestions you have at any time to meet the needs of our congregation—just call Stacy or me. Please pray that God shows you how and where you can help. We are all in this together. Mahalo.

Your sister in Christ,
Michelle

Prayer Chain

Prayer

1st Thessalonians 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing”

James 5:16 says, “The fervent prayer of a righteous person availeth much.”

The current MPC Prayer Chain coordinator is Elder Geoff Horvath. The Prayer Chain is composed of a large group of people (76+) located in many areas of our Lord’s world - MPC church members, former members and friends of MPC who have volunteered to use a portion of their regular daily prayer time to pray for people, situations, medical issues and events. Prayer Chain post-ings and updates are provided via internet e-mail as soon as received.
Prayers Requests come onto the Prayer chain in a variety of forms, via the prayer chain coordinator. Examples: blue prayer cards submitted at regular Sunday MPC service, verbal, e-mail, and telephone requests. All prayer requests are considered sensitive in nature, are deemed CONFIDENTIAL, and should not be shared outside of the prayer chain. They are shared between the person submitting the request, prayer chain members, and God. Prayers can be specifically designated for ―Prayer Chain Only‖ to respect the privacy of the person submitting the request. Prayers can also be submitted anon-ymously. Requests utilizing the KISS (Keep it Simple Saints) principle is the desired format (After all, the Lord knows the rest of the details).
It is hoped that the MPC Prayer Chain will never be viewed or used as a bulletin board for any type of announcements – it is a serious addition to each member’s prayer life and our Lord hears our prayers and honors our faithfulness in this important part of our faith journey.
Anyone submitting a prayer request is asked to update the request at least once a month, so that the ―prayer warriors‖ can either refocus on any specific changes that have occurred, celebrate and be en-couraged by answered prayer, or further their prayer life through a continued conversation with our Lord.
Consider making the Prayer Chain of MPC a part of your commitment to pray without ceasing. The Lord hears all of our prayers and will answer each of them. Thank you for your support and participation.
For further information, please contact Elder Geoff.
