Missions and Community Service
MPC maintains a small food bank to assist with short-term emergency needs of local residents. Referrals to other community agencies are made for extended needs. Donations of canned or other food products with a long shelf life are requested when supplies need replenishing. Jesus said, "Feed the hungry." It is good to be able to do so.
"River of Life" is an inner-city Christian Mission ministry in Honolulu providing meals, food bags, worship, Bible Study, showers, health screening and love for the homeless and other struggling men, women and children of Oahu.
In addition to supporting River of Life with church mission money MPC also serves dinner and leads evening worship and praise six times each year. Church members and their friends at least 16 years and older are encouraged to participate in helping on these occasions. Advance food preparers are also needed.
Car-pooling is recommended due to the limited parking at the location. Car-pools depart from the church at 5:15 pm, and returns shortly after 9:00 pm.
Kipapa School Collection
Each summer MPC collects school supplies and cash donations for Kipapa Elementary School across the street. Not every child at Kipapa has parents who are able or willing to provide the supplies that they need. Not having a backpack, writing tablets, pencils, etc. can be humiliating and embarrassing for a child. With our supplies teachers can quietly and tactfully meet their needs. Cash donations enter a school fund that covers field trip costs for these same students. Jesus blessed the children. We try to do that, too.
